Back in 2012/2013 I was approached by longtime collaborator Marcus Koch. He had mentioned to me several times that Stephen Biro and Unearthed Films had been working on an American reimagining of the "Guinea Pig" series from Japan.

I assumed Marcus was going to be handling the special FX makeup but he also mentioned that he would be handling the edit as well. Since 2006, I had contributed music and sound to all of his movies and he wanted to keep that relationship going with the new American Guinea Pig films.

Because Marcus cuts to music, I had to interpret what exactly he wanted without seeing anything ahead of time. He told me that it would be shot on both Super 8 and VHS. It would also be less of a narrative film and more of straight gore endurance piece.

I carved up several hours worth of material. One of the devices I used was a custom microphone made out of a beer can. It was crude and everything that was captured had a "tin" sound to it.I cut up pieces of Japanese folk music, captured random signals of radio broadcast, and arranged various sections of metal junk percussion.

Marcus then rearranged all the pieces, stretched them out and slowed them down. Some of the pieces can be recognized in the final film.
